Rules & FAQs

The rules exist so the park stays quiet.

Most of them are common sense. A few — the fishing ones especially — matter a great deal, so please read those before you set up.

Common questions

Asked most often.

Do you take children?

No. Lakeside is over 18s only, and always has been. It is the reason the park is as quiet as it is.

Are you open in winter?

Yes, all year round. From November to February the serviced hardstandings are £35 a night plus electric on the card meter, rather than £40 inclusive.

Can I bring the dog?

Yes — £1 per dog per night, paid on arrival. Dogs stay on leads around the park and the woodland. There is a secure enclosed field behind the toilet block you can book in 30 minute slots at reception.

How do I hold a pitch?

A one night non-refundable deposit secures it. Send a booking request through this site or ring 01522 704808 and Carol will sort it out.

Do I need a motor mover?

For the hardstanding pitches, yes. Grass pitches are fine without.

What time can I arrive?

Between 12pm and 7pm. Pitches need to be clear by 11am on the day you go.

Is there a minimum stay?

Not normally. Bank holidays are a three night minimum, and event weekends are two nights.

Can I fish at night?

No night fishing on either lake. On Woodpecker the bollard lights tell you when to stop.

Do I need a rod licence?

Yes, a valid Environment Agency rod licence, on both lakes.

Can friends visit for the day?

Yes, £5 per day and they must be pre-booked. They check in at reception, park in the car park, and leave by 8pm.

Is there WiFi?

Yes, across the park, and in all four lodges.

Can I store my caravan here?

Yes. £395 a year single axle, £420 twin axle, on a CCTV-covered and floodlit compound. £15 a week if you only need it short term, and we will tow it on and off pitch for £24 round trip.

Touring park

Park rules

These apply to everyone on the park, including day visitors.

  1. All pitches to be vacated by 11am on the day of departure.
  2. Check in is between 12pm and 7pm.
  3. Over 18s only.
  4. Strictly no heaters in awnings.
  5. Quiet time after 11pm. Gates close at 11pm.
  6. Dogs must be kept on leads around the site and woodland areas, and cleaned up after.
  7. No swimming in the lakes.
  8. First gear only on the roads and around the site.
  9. Visitors check in at reception, park in the car park, and leave by 8pm.
  10. No foul language or horseplay at any time.
  11. Find your nearest fire point when you arrive.
  12. Barbecues for cooking only. No open fires, and nothing that damages the grass.
  13. No sleeping in vehicles on pitch.
  14. Leave the toilet, shower and washing facilities as you found them.
  15. New electric hook-ups: plug in fully, turn on to lock, turn off before unplugging.

Dog field

The enclosed field

Behind the toilet block. Book 30 minute slots at reception so dogs are not put together.

  1. Exercise dogs in the enclosed field behind the toilet block.
  2. Book 30 minute slots for the enclosed area at reception.
  3. Clean up after your dog — bins are provided.
  4. Dogs stay on leads in the woodland and on site.
  5. You remain responsible for your dog and for other users of the field.

Specimen water

Woodpecker Lake rules

Carp to 30lb. These fish are looked after, and the rules are enforced.

Barbless 8–10 12lb minimum No night fishing
  1. No night fishing — the bollard lights tell you when to stop.
  2. Pay for your fishing before you set up.
  3. No braided lines or hook links.
  4. No nuts, cat food or dog food.
  5. 10mm boilies only, available from the tackle shop.
  6. Maximum ½kg of bait per person, per day. Take excess bait home.
  7. Go easy on loose pellets.
  8. No surface or zig fishing — 5ft maximum.
  9. Two rods per peg maximum.
  10. Large landing nets only. No keep nets.
  11. Barbless hooks, size 8–10. Minimum 12lb breaking strain.
  12. Valid rod licence required.
  13. Never leave rods unattended.
  14. Antiseptic spray on any damage — it is kept on site.
  15. Dip landing nets and slings in the disinfectant before you fish.
  16. Keep bite alarms low. Others are trying to sleep.
  17. Fish cradles must be used — available to hire.
  18. Keep a bucket of water to hand and return fish quickly.
  19. Photos at knee height.
  20. Nothing left on the banks overnight, except on dedicated pegs.
  21. Free-running method feeders only. No pole fishing.

Mixed water

Kingfisher Lake rules

Fish to 18lb, and a lot more variety. Lighter tackle, same standards.

Barbless 12–14 8lb minimum No night fishing
  1. No night fishing.
  2. No braided lines, including hook links.
  3. No nuts, cat meat or dog meat.
  4. Go easy on loose pellets. Take excess bait home.
  5. No surface fishing.
  6. Two rods per peg maximum.
  7. Barbless hooks, size 12–14. Minimum 8lb breaking strain.
  8. Valid rod licence required.
  9. Never leave rods unattended.
  10. Antiseptic spray on any damage.
  11. Dip landing nets in the disinfectant before you fish.
  12. Fish cradles must be used — available to hire.
  13. Keep a bucket of water to hand and return fish quickly.

  15. Nothing left on the banks overnight, except private pegs.
  16. Free-running method feeders only.
  17. No pole fishing on pegs 23, 25 and 26 — the lilies.
